The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance after skeletal remain belonging to 28-year old Jorge Luis Saldana Villegas, who went missing out of California in 2023, were found near Trenton, Texas.
According to reports, on Aug. 27, 2025, Fannin County Deputies and investigators responded to a location near Trenton, off of SH 69, in reference to the discovery of human skeletal remains by a construction crew.
“These remains were collected and ultimately submitted to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification where in recent weeks, using DNA analysis, they were identified as belonging to a Jorge Luis Saldana Villegas, Hispanic male who was reported missing out of California in March of 2023.”
According to Mr. Saldana Villegas’ family, he left the San Bernadino, California area by bus around July 2022 headed to Texas to find work.
The family has also advised that, once he left California, they never heard from him again and it is unknown when he arrived in Texas.
“If you believe you had any interactions with Mr. Saldana Villegas in the Trenton area around 2022-2023 please contact the Sheriff’s Office. The attached photo is the most current picture that the family was able to provide.”
