On Friday afternoon, doors to the newly remodeled Family Fun Center reopened and now locals have even more to cheer about with the launch of Sky Athletics.

Sky Athletics is our brand-new cheerleading and tumbling program that will begin its journey inside the Family Fun Center, but will soon transfer to the up and coming North East Texas Sports Complex once construction is completed,” said owner Skyler Burchinal.

The program will not only offer cheerleading and tumbling classes for ages 3 and up but they’ll also have a traveling competition team.

“We’re very excited to bring this program to Paris and have Amanda Phillips as our coach and trainer,” said Burchinal. “Amanda has been a part of the cheerleading world for twelve years and has become very successful in sharing her knowledge, skill, and love for cheerleading with young athletes.”

Throughout Phillip’s cheerleading career, she has competed with seven different All-Star programs and four College programs. During that time, she became a National Champion at one of the biggest All-Star Cheerleading competitions in the world and competed at many the NCA Collegiate Championships,

“Nothing excites me more than pouring out my heart to young athletes who have the same interests and passion as I did when I was a younger athlete,” said Phillips.

Phillips has been coaching gymnastics and cheerleading since 2011 at multiple gyms and has built life-long relationships with her girls.

“Cheerleading has taught me the confidence, strength, and discipline that I have been able to carry out in all other aspects of my life.”

Phillips said parents can expect their child to be taught the skills and techniques in all areas of tumbling, jumps, and stunting, as well as being constantly encouraged and supported.

Classes will be held Monday through Thursday in the evenings and will be split according to skill level and age.

“There will four classes offered starting with mini, novice, intermediate and All-Star prep,” said Phillips.

A $25 registration fee is required to sign up for the class. Registration includes a Sky Athletics t-shirt.
