After 10-years downtown, Subway will close their doors indefinitely.

The chain’s shop at 5 East Plaza will close for good this evening, Tuesday, May 21st at 8 p.m.

Owner Jeff Martin said, “The ten-year lease was up this month and an extensive remodel including the new fresh forward rebranding would be due should I renew the lease. So, I made the business decision to close the downtown store so I can refocus my resources on my higher volume locations.”

The East Plaza Street Subway was one of five Subway restaurants in Lamar County. The Subway at 2660 N. Main Street, 3915 Lamar Avenue, 3720 Bonham Street and the Subway located in the Wal-mart are still open for business.
