Dr. Don Arthur Ensey, Jr., 82, of Paris, passed away at his home, Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

A Celebration of his life has been scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ with Dr. Jay Spencer officiating. Cremation was conducted under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Dr. Ensey was born July 5, 1936 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Don Arthur Ensey, Sr. and Edith Viola Nichols Ensey. He graduated from Boswell High School in 1953 and continued with his education at Eastern Oklahoma A&M College in Wilburton, OK for a year before he went into the Army for two years. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Eastern Oklahoma A&M, on the G.I. Bill, to resume his education. After graduation from Eastern Oklahoma A&M he entered the veterinary school at Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, OK and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1962. Following graduation, he and Elsie moved to Paris where he opened his veterinary practice in July 1962 and continued his practice until 1973.

On January 7, 1976 he opened The Fish Fry Restaurant in Paris and successfully operated the restaurant until he retired in January 2005. Dr. Ensey had a love for the gifts from Mother Nature. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and wildlife conservationist. In his later years he had a passion for building and managing lakes and fisheries. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Ethel Kay Ensey. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Dickey Ensey, whom he married June 2, 1961, building over 57 years of family and memories. Two sons, Gary Ensey & wife Sheila and Greg Ensey; grandson, Jake Ensey; granddaughters, Allison Ensey, Grace Ensey, and Maggie Ensey; two sisters, Lana Ensey and Rita “Charlie” Love & husband Felix along with a host of friends.

The family has requested memorials be given in Dr. Ensey’s name to The Red River Valley Boys & Girls Club Foundation, P.O. Box 919, Paris, Texas 75461, Attn. Cindy.
