Doris Ellen Malone, 79, of Taylortown, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at her home.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Duane Hamil officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Taylortown. The family will receive friends from 4 – 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Malone, the daughter of Floyd Chester & Julia Dean Robison, was born September 4, 1938, in Lamar County.

She graduated from Blossom High School, Paris Junior College and East Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in home economics.

Doris worked several years at Westinghouse and was then instrumental in developing the Pre-school program in the Cunningham School District. Following that she worked a number of years at the Texas Employment Commission before her retirement. She then did substitute school teaching for several years.

Following the 1982 tornado in Paris, she worked with the Federal Disaster Relief Program. Doris helped countless veterans with reading and tutoring for the GED. As a 4-H leader, she taught sewing and cooking. Doris was an avid quilter, artist, and seamstress. She loved owning and showing her Tennessee Walking Horses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Alan Robison, and a cousin whom she considered a brother, Donald Humphrey.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Malone, whom she married in 1957, building sixty-years of family and memories, three children, Jerry Malone & wife Vicki of Cunningham, Regina Rhodes & husband Travis of Taylortown and Rodney Malone & wife Melissa of Taylortown, grandchildren; Jessica Warren & husband Craig of Temple, Lucas Malone of Stephenville, Casey Gibson of Ft. Worth and Colin Rhodes of Taylortown along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
