Donnetta Carol Rogers (known as “Granny D”) passed away peacefully at age 62 on February 8,
2024 from cancer in Arthur City, Texas, two months after her diagnosis.
Donnetta was born in Belleville Illinois on April 22nd, 1961, to parents Donald and Monetta Byus. She
married David Douglas Rogers in St. Charles, Missouri on May, 29 1981. She loved their property in Alaska where they moved their family to in 2000 and were able to live the lifestyle they both loved. She is well-known for her love and care for her 13 children and her 26 grandchildren, for nature, for art, and for God’s Word.
Donnetta will be remembered for her contagious laughter and smile, her scripture memorization, her
early morning coffee and quiet time, and her “Granny D nights” with her grandchildren. She was
a faithful mother and godly example of steadfastness. Her joyful smile and laughter will be
greatly missed.
Donny is survived by her children; Billy Douglas Rogers, Ricky Steven Rogers, Tommy Ray Rogers,
Sammy Lee Rogers, Gracie Rose Kossuth, Abbey May Gerwig, Emily Ann Walker, Frankey Roy
Rogers, Buddy Micheal Rogers, Ruby Lynn Schoppenhorst, Henry Doyle Rogers and Sonny
David Rogers. She is survived by her mother; Monetta Byus and siblings; Bret Byus, Melanie Posey, Nancy Wood and Daren Byus.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Douglas Rogers; son, PFC Jessy Scott Rogers; Father,
Donald Byus; sister, Linda Howard and nephew, Timothy Howard.
There will be a private service held in Powderly, Texas on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
