Detroit ISD students can now receive free meals through the school district thanks to Federal funding that has made this possible.
“Free meals begin Tuesday, September 8,” said the school district on their Facebook page. “It’s very important that all parents complete the free and reduced lunch form.”
The district advised that the federal government uses that information to determine funds to which they would receive during the school year.
“This past year parents that received free and reduced lunch were eligible for a rebate from the federal government,” they added.
When it comes to how long the funding will last, the district advised that funds for the program should last through till December.
“Charges prior to Sept 9, will need to be paid,” they have advised parents.
