Paris Fire Department’s Chad Graves has donned a new title after being promoted to Deputy Chief for A-Shift with PFD.
Deputy Chief Graves said he is excited to take on this new role for the Paris Fire Department.
“I have been blessed to work under some great leaders in my 20 years in the fire service,” Graves said. “During those years, I have tried to take the hints and examples from those same great leaders to help define what type of leader I would want to be.”
Graves was one of the local firefighters who assisted in West Texas with the Blue Creek fire, which burned more than 4,300 acres.
“The best part of this job is that we (Paris FD) have always had great firefighters here who know their jobs better than most,” Graves said. “This fact makes it easier on all of our department’s leaders, especially on someone like me who has just promoted.”
As civil service department promotions are based on knowledge, Graves’ promotion process “was very competitive.” He said there were just a few points between the first and second place applicant.
“I truly appreciate this opportunity afforded to me,” Graves said. “Our administration has been very supportive of all those who are in the process of being promoted.”
