The Lamar County Elections Administration wants the public to be aware of a scam surfacing around TXBALLOT.ORG.
The elections office in Lamar County wants the public to know the site “is a SCAM and is in no way affiliated with Lamar County Elections. This is occurring statewide not just Lamar County.”
Other counties have reported the same site as a scam.
“Your vote counted. No matter what you see or hear,” the elections office posted. “If you voted, it counted as soon as you cast your ballot. We’re receiving phone calls and nasty emails belittling our office and staff. Rest assured, people, it counted just as it always has in any election.”
Lamar County Elections Administration urges the community to no visit TXBALLOT.ORG to track ballots.
“It is a SCAM WEBSITE! It may list your spouse’s check-in time and then say no results found for your name. It is not known where they are getting their information, but we do not report to that entity.”
The elections office has assured the public its check-in system and secretary of state website is uploaded nightly.
