The race is not over for two County Commissioner Precinct 4 candidates who will to go head-to-head in a run-off race May 22nd, 2018.

Kevin Anderson led in the polls with 926 votes, while Tracey Crawford got 611, however, because there wasn’t a 50% plus one vote for the majority, the two go back to the polls May 22nd.

Anderson said the results, although not final, gave him a boost of confidence.

“I feel confident, especially in my hometown, because my opponent and I are both from the same hometown and they supported me 71% in the Blossom area,” said Anderson.

“It meant a lot to me but it’s not over yet.”

Anderson has 16 years of service working for the county (Precinct 1), but lives in Precinct 4 and is ready to put his knowledge and wisdom to work.

“I’ve been gathering up experience and learning how it all works. I’m on the finance committee at our church and that helps with the budget side of things and trying to balance the county budget,” said Anderson, “You need to be as professional as you can be with taxpayers dollars and spend it wisely instead of frivolously.”

His opponent, Crawford, is also confident in the run-off race.

“I’m feeling great after the March 6th results,” said Crawford, “There is always a run-off when there is 3 or more running and I pray the voters will come back May 22nd to show that their votes really do count in a local election.”

Crawford has an extensive history working in and around Lamar County, including owning several businesses and being a member multiple local organizations.

“Helping people is something I love doing and that’s why I want to be the new Commissioner of Pct 4, so I can help the people of Lamar County,” added Crawford, “I am willing to sit down with anyone and discuss any issues they have concerning the County business. Setting budgets have been an intricate part of my life the past 25 years.

Crawford wants the voters of Precinct 4 to know that experience in managing is something he is very proud of and believes that helps the County in the Commissioners Court, as well as, managing the men on the road crews.

Voters in Precinct 4 will go back to the polls on May 22nd.
