Claire’s has announced a voluntary recall on three makeup products that regulators said tested positive for asbestos.

The U.S FDA indicated a possible presence of asbestos fibers in sample products, taken from one lot of each product Claire’s has pulled these products from shelves but they were offered for sale between October 2016 and March 2019.

These products were offered nationwide and were also available for purchase via their online site www.claires.com.

Consumers who have made purchases of these products should discontinue use and return them to a Claire’s store for a full refund.

The SKUs/lots admitted for recall are:

* Claire’s Eyeshadows, UPC #888711847165, SKU #84716, Lot No. 08/17

* Claire’s Contour Palette, UPC #888711401947, SKU #40194, Lot No. 04/17

Claire’s has not been made aware of any reactions, injuries, or illness caused by these products. Claire’s remains to be confident in the safety and composition of their products and are taking these actions out of immense caution.

“We are working with FDA to ensure the agency and our customers share that confidence,” says Claire’s representative.

“Claire’s understands many parents trust and expect us to hold the cosmetics purchased by and for their children to the highest possible safety standards. In the last year, Claire’s switched to talc-free manufacturing for all its cosmetics.”
