The City Council of the City of Paris is pleased to announce the three finalists for the vacant city manager position and invite the public to a Meet and Greet session with the candidates.
The finalists are Rose Beverly, City Administrator of Berea, Kentucky; Jason Weeks, City Manager of Navasota, Texas; and Chris Whittaker, City Manager of Angleton, Texas.
The Meet and Greet will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the City Council Chambers at 107 East Kaufman Street. During the event, residents will learn more about the candidates and their visions for the city’s future.
City Council members will be available to visit with citizens one-on-one to discuss their opinions about this crucial decision and the leadership style, communication, and overall reactions to each finalist.
Rose Beverly has over nine years of government leadership experience and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Arizona Global Campus; she holds a Real Estate License and is past
president of the Idaho Association of Counties.
As City Administrator in Berea, Beverly has collaborated with engineers to develop a capital investment project plan to prioritize and organize city street paving projects and their correlating underground and aboveground infrastructure improvements, as well as leading sustainability projects and strategic planning efforts. Beverly values the importance of relationship building within the region and state to promote shared goals.
Jason Weeks has more than 22 years of experience in city government leadership and has a Master of Public Administration degree and a Certification in Public Budgeting and Financial Management from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University at Commerce, now East Texas A&M University, and Certified Public Manager credentials from Texas State University.
As City Manager of Navasota, he has worked with multiple developers on planning efforts for over 6,000 new single-family homes, created and implemented Navasota Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 1, and developed and implemented a
strategic plan that aligns with the city’s core values.
Chris Whittaker has over 10 years of experience in municipal management and holds a master’s degree in management from the American Military University, a bachelor’s in history from the Virginia Military Institute, and Certified Public Manager credentials from Texas State University. In Angleton, Whittaker has been instrumental in identifying grants for the city, driving economic development initiatives, and improving public infrastructure.
