Paris Police have identified the body of 61-year old Alan Patrick Vanevery of Paris as the man who was found in some brush land off 42nd NE Street May 16.
“A firearm was found by officers processing the scene and the preliminary autopsy report confirmed a gunshot wound to the chest as the cause of death,” stated Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley in a statement released.
He continued to say that the official manner of death has been ruled as a suicide.
It was believed that Vanevery had been staying off and on at a residence close to where his body was found.
Local law enforcement said they had been trying to locate Vanevery since October 15 of 2018 after he failed to attend a scheduled court hearing regarding a pending criminal matter.
