Bonham ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Joy Wilson as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools for Bonham ISD at their Mar. 20, 2024, meeting.
After the state-required 21-day waiting period, Dr. Wilson is set to become the district’s next leader following the retirement of current BISD superintendent, Kelly Trompler.
Dr. Wilson is delighted to return to Bonham ISD where she began her education, attending kindergarten at Stephenson School. Her mother, a class of 1969 Bonhi graduate, is thrilled to have her daughter serve as the next superintendent at her alma mater.
Dr. Wilson comes to Bonham ISD with extensive knowledge and experience in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, teacher development, and bilingual instruction. She will begin working with Mrs. Trompler for a transition period in late April before officially taking the reins on July 1, 2024.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Wilson to Bonham ISD,” said Chance Roberts, president of Bonham ISD Board of Trustees. “After an extensive search, the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees believes Dr. Wilson offers the district a wealth of knowledge in education including classroom teaching, campus leadership and central office experience. Her data-driven mindset, emphasis on transformational leadership and intent on keeping Bonham ISD traditions and family-like atmosphere alive make her the perfect candidate to succeed Mrs. Trompler as Bonham ISD Superintendent.”
