Bogata Police Chief David Short bids his farewell from Bogata’s Police Department as he announced his retirement.
From Bogata Police Chief David Short:
“After much discussion, though and prayer with my family, I have made the decision to announce my retirement from the Bogata Police Department. My career with the Bogata Police Department began almost 14 years ago, and when I tell you it was my honor, I mean that wholeheartedly and serving this city has been a blessing from God.
“During my time at Bogata, I have met many good friends and had many good times, but I also have experienced much sadness during this same time period. I’ve experienced the loss of a fellow officer, the deaths of many of our citizens and even the senseless murders of some of our citizens. I hope in some way I was able to give the families of these tragedies some comfort in knowing that our Police Department would be there for them in their time of need.
“I want to THANK my wife and my children for their support and sacrifices that they have endured during my career. I know there have been times that work interfered with family time. I LOVE each of you very much!!
“To the former and current police officers of the Bogata Police Department, I want to THANK YOU for your tireless dedication to the City of Bogata. I am so blessed to have worked beside you over the years.
“Finally, I want to say THANK YOU to the Citizens of Bogata for the support you have shown to me and my officers of the Bogata Police Department over the years. The Gifts, Donations, food, Desserts and Cards of thanks from the citizens, and businesses has meant the world to me.
“I ask that you keep me and my family in your prayers, and I will keep you in mine.
David Short.
