Bailey Announces Reading Fair Winners

Bailey Intermediate fourth and fifth grade students participated in a campus reading fair on Tuesday that involved using their creativity while helping them develop an appreciation for reading.

The North Lamar students chose one of their favorite fictional books from the school’s library then designed a tri-fold presentation board to tell about it.  They were to include the story elements such as title, author, publisher, publication date, main characters, setting, plot summary, conflict, solution, author’s purpose, and tone or mood. Judges scored them based on the story elements, clarity of writing, creativity, quality of project, thoroughness of written information, and interest evoked.  Serving as judges were Kimberly McBrayerKaren Baker, and Winanda Tillema.

Named as the fourth grade winners along with the titles of their books are Braden Collar, first place, Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsRory Stewart, second place, Dork Diaries; Emmah Klingler and Lorelei Daniel, third place, Warriors; and Ansley Fisher, fourth place, Wonder.  Fifth grade winners are Amberlee Freelen, first place, Plastic, Ahoy! and Brody Stout, second place, Hatchet.
