Apple will build new Mac Pro in Austin

Instead of heading overseas, Apple announced earlier this week that they would continue their production operations for the Mac Pro in Austin, Texas, where the state will see a continued boost in jobs.

The news broke by Fox Business, Market Alert on Sept. 23, that with the aid of Tariff exemptions Apple has been able to make this happen.

The move came three days after U.S. trade officials approved exemptions that would allow Apple to import essential Mac Pro parts from China without them being subject to tariffs.

Apple is also projecting that they are on track to invest $350 billion back into the U.S. economy by 2023.

“The Mac Pro is Apple’s most powerful computer ever, and we’re proud to be building it in Austin,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. “We thank the administration for their support enabling this opportunity.”

Apple rolled out the redesigned Mac Pro at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and it’s expected to go on sale this fall. Production in Austin will begin shortly, the company said in a statement.

This all comes as a win for both Texas and the U.S. based company- as earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal had printed that the manufacturing production of the Mac Pro would be moving to China.

Not long after that news broke, President Donald J Trump took to Twitter saying, “Apple will not be given Tariff waiver, or relief, for Mac Pro parts that are made in China. Make them in the USA, no Tariffs!”

“We believe deeply in the power of American innovation,” Cook continued, “that’s why every Apple product is designed and engineered in the U.S., and made up of parts from 36 states, supporting 450,000 jobs with U.S. suppliers, and we’re going to continue growing here.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, couldn’t have put it better when he took to Twitter to share the news stating, “Made in Texas” is a very powerful brand. “
