More than 60 students and family members gathered at Stone Middle School on Tuesday, September 22, for North Lamar ISD’s Paint Your Parent Night, an evening designed to bring families together through creativity, laughter and shared experiences.
The event put a fun twist on the popular “paint your date” trend, with parents and children creating portraits of one another before revealing their finished masterpieces. The results brought plenty of smiles and laughter, while giving families an opportunity to spend meaningful time together at school.
Paint Your Parent Night was hosted as part of North Lamar ISD’s Title I Parent and Family Engagement program. Title I family engagement activities are designed to strengthen partnerships between families and schools, encourage meaningful parent participation and provide families with welcoming opportunities to connect with their child’s education and school community.
Events such as Paint Your Parent Night help build those relationships by creating positive experiences on campus and encouraging families to be active participants in their children’s school lives.
Credit Union of Texas supported the evening by providing dinner for attendees. CUTX volunteers were also on hand with information about the CUTX SMART Branch at North Lamar High School, giving families an opportunity to learn more about the student-operated branch and financial education opportunities available through the partnership.
North Lamar ISD appreciates the families who chose to spend their evening together at the event and Credit Union of Texas for its continued support of students, families and Parent and Family Engagement initiatives across the district.
