Shots Fired Investigation Leads to Felony Arrest
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers with the Paris Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of SW 7th Street.
Upon arrival, officers contacted two males who identified a male sitting on a nearby porch as the person who had reportedly fired the firearm. Officers made contact with the male, who admitted to discharging a firearm in the direction of the two individuals.
The male was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. He was transported to the Lamar County Jail for processing.
During a records check, officers discovered the male had previous felony convictions. As a result, he was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, shortly before 11:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2500 block of North Main Street.
During the stop, officers made contact with the driver and passengers and detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, and officers conducted a search.
During the search, officers located baggies containing suspected cocaine and Alprazolam pills in the area of one of the passengers.
The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, Less Than One Gram, for the suspected cocaine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 3, Less Than 28 Grams, a misdemeanor, for the pills.
Disturbance Investigation Leads to Firearm and Drug Arrest
On Sunday, September 20, 2026, shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 3200 block of Clarksville Street involving a male and female who were reportedly fighting.
While investigating the disturbance, officers observed THC vape products, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia inside the residence. Investigators were contacted and subsequently obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers located a firearm belonging to the male resident. A records check revealed the male had previous felony convictions, making his possession of the firearm unlawful.
The male was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony. He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, Less Than One Gram.
All persons arrested were transported to jail and processed without further incident.
Officers made 62 traffic stops, made 10 adult arrests, and answered 176 calls for service during this reporting period.
