Frank Wright has returned to the helm of the Lamar County Republican Party following the recent resignation of newly elected chair Sims Norment.
Wright was sworn in as chairman on Aug. 6 after receiving unanimous support from the Lamar County Republican Party County Executive Committee.
The appointment comes after Norment resigned from the position just days after being sworn in on July 20.
Following Norment’s departure, Vice Chair Rhonda Welch served as interim county chair while the party began the process of filling the vacancy in accordance with Republican Party of Texas rules.
That process concluded with the executive committee unanimously supporting Wright to return to the position.
Wright previously served as Lamar County Republican Party chairman and, according to the local party, brings experience and a continued commitment to the organization.
“We appreciate Frank’s willingness to once again step forward and serve, and we look forward to working together as we continue building a strong and united Republican Party here in Lamar County,” the Lamar County Republican Party said in announcing his appointment.
