On July 18, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of SE 23rd Street for a defective third brake light. Upon making contact with the driver, officers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, during which a THC vape pen was located. The driver was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2 (≥1G <4G), a Third-Degree Felony.
On July 18, Officers observed a subject riding a bicycle in the 1400 block of West Austin Street whom they knew had active warrants. Officers made contact with the subject and took him into custody on the outstanding warrants. During a search incident to arrest, methamphetamine was located in the subject’s pocket. The subject was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B (<1G), a State Jail Felony.
On July 19, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the 1800 block of NW Loop 286 for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver and front-seat passenger, officers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, during which marijuana and THC crystals were located. The driver and passenger were both subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2 (≥1G <4G), a Third-Degree Felony, and Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor.
On July 19, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the 2500 block of NW Loop 286 for speeding. Officers made contact with the driver, who consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, a THC vape pen was located in the center console. The driver was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2 (<1G), a State Jail Felony.
During this reporting period, officers conducted 97 traffic stops, made 15 adult arrests, and responded to 190 calls for service.
