The Paris City Council is accepting letters of interest and applications for the District 2 council representative position. Previous District 2 Councilman Mickey Ellis resigned after relocating outside the district. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m.,
Tuesday, June 30.
Candidate qualifications are found in the Paris City Charter and the Texas Election Code.
Among other requirements, a candidate must have lived in District 2 for at least the previous 12 months as of the application deadline, be at least 18 years old, be a United States citizen, and not have been finally convicted of a felony.
A district map, application form, instructions, and other qualification information are available at www.ParisTexas.gov/Council or at the City Clerk’s Office, 150 SE 1st Street.
Any District 2 resident interested in applying should submit an application, along with a letter to the council, explaining their reasons for interest in serving and their related capabilities and experience.
The City Clerk will review the applications, and those meeting all qualifications may be invited to an interview with the council before a selection is made.
