North Lamar High School’s Theatre Department has a rich history in UIL One Act Play and much success under the former direction of Laura Hutchings, Cody Head, and current director, Stephanie Easton.
North Lamar One Act Play (OAP) has proven to be a competitive company that has achieved yearly success, deep into the One Act Play season. This year is no exception.
Under the direction of Stephanie Easton, the company of The Torch Bearers is entering the fourth round of competition.
North Lamar OAP is one of only 24 4A schools in the state of Texas that have advanced to the Region level of competition.
Throughout this season, multiple students have received honors at District and Bi-District for their outstanding performances, both on and off the stage.
At the most recent contest, Area, held at Tyler Junior College, Isaac James-Arguello was awarded Honorable Mention, Micahel Cruz was awarded Outstanding Technician, while Hayden Prescott and Mallory Spencer received the honor of All Star Cast.
North Lamar OAP will compete at Region on April 24th for the opportunity to earn a trip to the UIL State 4A One Act Play competition.
The cast and crew of The Torch Bearers include Hayden Prescott, Carsten Kessel, Cooper Renfro, Noah Menchaca, Isaac James Arguello, Wyatt Miller, Taylor Nutt, Addie Barber, Mallory Spencer, Emmah Klingler, Ameila Kee, Olivia Thomas, Sydney Garrett, Ava McMonigle, Todd Briley, Michael Cruz, Liam Broadway, Calvin Becker, Heidi Patchin, and Brogan Robinson.
