A pursuit that exceeded 100 mph and crossed from Delta County into Hunt County on Friday ended when deputies deployed two sets of spike strips, leading to the arrest of the driver, identified as Emerito Rolon Marquez of Florida.
Shortly after 7 a.m. on Nov. 28, 2025, Delta County Sheriff Deputies attempted to stop a blue Honda Odyssey that was headed south on Highway 24 near FM 2949.
Deputies were parked in the median with their emergency lights on when the vehicle passed them doing 85 mph in a 75 ph zone.
When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused, which led to a pursuit that entered Hunt County, where a Commerce Police Department unit joined in.
The driver reached speeds over 100 mph and was driving recklessly.
As the pursuit moved through Commerce, an officer with Commerce PD was able to deploy spike strips near Culver Street, which disabled the front passenger-side tire.
Even with a damaged tire, the driver continued onto Interstate 30 and drove on the shoulder and in a reckless manner.
Greenville Police officers were able to successfully deploy another set of spike strips.
The vehicle kept going westbound on I-30 until it eventually crashed near Exit 93 in Greenville.
The driver, identified as Emerito Rolon Marquez of Florida, ran from the scene on foot but was quickly caught and taken into custody.
Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
