On Aug. 4, Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Brenda Lee Harris (62) of Paris in the 2100 block of E. Cherry St. for a moving violation. Harris appeared noticeably nervous and after officers spoke with her they obtained consent for a search of the vehicle she was driving. Officers located narcotics in the seat where Harris was sitting. Harris was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was booked and later taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 4, Officers arrested Ethan Ray House (19) after being sent to a disturbance in the 2100 block of E. Cherry. The victim advised that House had threatened him with a knife. A family member of the victim had been verbally harassed by House earlier and the victim had gone to House’s residence to speak with his parents about the behavior. When the victim knocked on the door, he was confronted by House who grabbed a knife and advanced upon the victim. A family member of House’s physically restrained House as he attempted to get away and assault the victim with the knife. House confessed to officers that he tried to assault the victim with a knife. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. House was found to be in possession of marijuana and was subsequently charged with that offense as well. He was later transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 3, Officers arrested Jerry Wayne Watts (28) of Paris on a on an outstanding warrant for Burglary of a Building. This arrest was a result of an investigation of a previously reported case in which Watts was determined to have sold items stolen in a Burglary in the 3500 block of NE Loop 286 which occurred on July 21, 2025. Paris Police Criminal Investigators established that Watts had sold the copper fittings and other items stolen in the burglary at a local steel/salvage yard and he was positively identified as the seller. The case is still open and ongoing. Watts was booked and taken to Lamar County Jail.
Officers made 31 traffic stops, 5 adult arrest, and answered 116 calls for service during this reporting period.
