On Aug. 1, Officers arrested Joe Bradley Cochran (48) of Lamar County on a charge of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. This arrest was the result of an ongoing case in which Cochran is accused of selling Methamphetamine. He was booked and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 2, Officers arrested Kaiden Scott Shackelford (20) at Farmers Market in the 400 block of SW 1st St. on a warrant for Burglary of a Building. The warrant was the result of a Burglary investigation on an incident in which the suspect entered the library while it was closed and stole cash and other items as well as damaging a cash register. In the initial investigation the identity of the suspect was established and the warrant was issued. Shackelford was booked and later transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 3, Officers arrested Mathew John McMullen (35) of Paris on a charge of Public Intoxicated with 3 prior convictions. McMullen was in the 3800 block of Clarksville St. at Wal-Mart. He was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself. He was arrested and taken to the Paris Police Department.
On Aug. 3, Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of W. Austin in regards to a disturbance. The caller advised that a male suspect was assaulting other subjects at the scene. Upon arrival officers were advised that the suspect, identified as Jose Alberto Montalvan, had fled across a back fence. Officers pursued and located Montalvan in an empty lot in the 2300 block of Austin where he was attempting to conceal himself in the tree line. Montalban was arrested and secured in handcuffs. A pat down of Montalban revealed methamphetamine in his pocket. After being escorted back to the officer’s patrol vehicle, Montalban began to resist being placed in the vehicle, pushing his considerable weight against officers to prevent being loaded into the unit. Montalban also made threats to the officers. He was loaded into the vehicle and transported to the Police Department where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.
On Aug. 3, Officers received a report of a stolen trailer from the 500 block of Brown Avenue. The complainant told officers that someone had stolen her boyfriend’s 14’ utility trailer from the yard. The trailer had been there on the day before but is gone now. The trailer was entered in NCIC as stolen and NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force was notified of the theft.
On Aug. 8, an officer performing a security check in the 2600 block of Bonham came into contact with Juan Carlos Peralta Velazco (35) of Sulphur Springs Texas. Velazco was found sleeping in the grass near Oak Park. A warrant check revealed that Velazco had an outstanding warrant from Harris county for Failure to Appear on a Theft case and also an outstanding warrant out of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs as an Alien Unlawfully Present Due to Order of Removal or Exclusion from the USA. Both warrants were confirmed and Velazco was arrested and transported to Lamar County Sheriff’s Department.
On Aug. 4, Brittanie Deborah Tambunga (36) of Paris was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug after being stopped in the 500 block of Pine Bluff after a traffic violation was observed. Tambunga consented to a search of her property. Officers found a prescription bottle in one of Tambunga’ bags containing medication which had not been prescribed to Tambunga. She was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug and processed without incident.
Officers made 44 traffic stops, 13 adult arrest, and answered 297 calls for service during this reporting period.
