On Feb. 16, Christopher Michael Gauchat (40) was arrested in Bonham Texas on an outstanding warrant for Theft over 2500.00 but less than 30,000. Gauchat was wanted on a warrant stemming from a February 9 2024 incident in which he entered a local antique store in the 4300 block of Lamar Avenue and purchased several antique toys then intentionally paid for the items with a check on a closed account. He committed a similar crime in the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Jurisdiction. Gauchat also gave a false id number during the purchase. During the investigation it was found that Gauchet had been writing stolen checks at various businesses in the NE Texas area. He was also arrested for Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying information He was placed in the Lamar County Jail after being arraigned in Fannin County.
On Feb. 16 at 7:29 p.m., Officers responded to disturbance call involving a firearm in the 1400 block of SE 6th. They contacted the suspect, Michael Clark Sikes (37) in a vehicle at the scene. Officers searched Sikes vehicle and located marijuana in the vehicle. A witness advised that Sikes had thrown a firearm into the bushes. Officers located a handgun in the area, which had been reported stolen in 2018. Sikes was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Carryng of a Weapon.
On Feb. 18 at 10:39 p.m., Officers arrested Damian Demond Wilburn (31) after making contact with him in the 100 block of E. Provine. Wilburn was in possession of a firearm which had been reported stolen in 2023. Wilburn was found to be a convicted felon and was charged with Unlawful Carrying a firearm by a felon as well a warrant for drug paraphernalia out of Delta County.
Officers made 54 traffic stops, 10 adult arrest, and answered 283 calls for service on for this reporting period February 16-19, 2024
