A cornhole tournament is set for April 9 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. to assist a family with medical bills for their two-year-old son, who was involved in a traffic accident this weekend and is currently fighting for his life at Parkland Children’s.
After a car accident over the weekend, Tiggan Dean, the son of Keylsie and Earl Dean Filkins, was care flighted to Medical City where he is suffering from his brain swelling.
“I have single-handedly seen what this town can do for those in need. My family is forever grateful for your love and support,” said Balee Brown. “Now Keylsie , Earl and most importantly Tiggan, need your support. This town can do remarkable things when they all come together for a family in need.”
To help the Filkins family with medical expenses, the cornhole tournament will also include a silent auction, bake sale, food plates, live music and T-shirt sales. Merrill Ray will also perform live and $7 burger plates (burger, drink and chips) will be available.
Shirts benefiting the Filkins are available online until April 1 here, and they will also be available during the event. Two guns will also be raffled off during the cornhole tournament.
The tournament from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at American Legion Post 199, 124 Monroe St. in Deport, is “Bring Your Own Partner,” and event-goers can sign up for $40 per team the day of the tournament.
Any donations for the silent auction can be delivered to Print Works, 6955 Lamar Ave. or reach out to Balee Brown, Kayla Sparks or Jennifer Filkins – “any one of us would be happy to pick them up.” Contact information for Kayla Sparks is 903-491-1116 and Jennifer Filkins is 903-491-2009.
The family desperately asks for the community’s outpouring of love and prayer for Tiggan. # TigganDeanStrong
