Man Charged With Taking Drugs Into Jail

Around 6pm Friday evening, Paris Police Officers responded to an EMS assist call in the 200 block of N Main with reports of a person unconscious or had fainted, according to EMS reports.

Officers made contact with 59-year-old, Kenneth Lancaster, who was found to be in possession of a small amount of synthetic marijuana and two Clonazepam pills.

“Lancaster was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge. Once inside the municipal jail, Lancaster was found to be in possession of more synthetic marijuana and eleven more Clonazepam pills,” said Paris Police Lt, John Berry.

Lancaster was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 3, less than 28 grams, possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2-A, less than or equal to 2 ounces and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility.

He is in Lamar County Jail being held on a total of $9,000 in bonds.
