The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Paris wants to make sure no child goes without a meal during the current COVID-19 crisis.
“We understand that some parents and guardians do not have the means to get to a pickup point to collect meals,” said Jason Macchia, Executive Director with the club. “So we are trying to deliver as many meals as we can to kids and families to make sure they are getting at least two meals a day.”
Knowing that the club can see around 200 kids walk through the doors when they are open, Macchia also said they know the number of kids in need of a meal can be much more than that.
“In an effort to ensure the children in our community are not going hungry, please let us know if you have kids or you know of someone who has kids ages 0-18 who has a Parent or Guardian who is unable to make it to one of the many staged food delivery locations. You can comment below or inbox your location to our Boys and Girls Page. We want to make sure no kid is going hungry during this time. We are stronger together,” they posted.
Some of their members have younger siblings, and as such, are too young to join the club. But that isn’t stopping them from delivering multiple meals to one household.
“Katrina (director) has been delivering around 50 meals a day to kids whose parents can’t get to the pickup locations,” he said. “The need to help hasn’t changed, and we are just trying to make sure every child gets a meal.”
To those that have contacted the club to be added to the list, they’re asking to please have a chair or table outside the front door for your delivery. They will knock or ring the doorbell once all items are placed in the designated area.
Their goal is to deliver as many meals as they can safely.
Anyone looking to get their child added to the list is encouraged to connect with them through their Facebook page as with limited staff calling may see some delays.
