Denison on Ice, an outdoor ice skating rink, returns for a forth year and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever.

The rink is located in the Radio Vision parking lot at 530 West Main Street.

“We will have a mascot this year,” Denison Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Kimberly Bowen told KTEN. “Olaf is available nightly for kids and photo opportunities. We will have some unique programs for the first time. One big one is adaptive skate night which will be ideal for those with sensitivity or special needs. It will feature slower music and slower skating.”

Throughout the season there will be special events held at the rink including “Frozen Sisters” on Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a meet and greet, storytime and sing along.

Silver Skate, set aside for the 55+ community will also be held on two dates: Dec. 10 and 17.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids age 12 and under.

The city is also offering a frequent user pass. The price is $70 for kids and $100 for adults and will be good for a total of 15 visits. The rink will also be available for private parties, and the city will also be selling $5 Olaf mugs which will give the purchaser free hot chocolate refills.

The rink is scheduled to open November 29 through January 5.

Tickets are available for purchase now on the city’s parks and recreation as well as www.DenisononIce.Com.
