After an intensive manhunt, 19-year old Malaki Beckham has been arrested after an intensive investigation identified him as the shooter in a fatal shooting on July 6, according to the Red River Valley Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, New Boston Police responded to a shooting call on July 6 at approximately 5:42 p.m. in the 300 block on N Linsey Street.
Upon arrival, officers located two victims who were shot and later identified as 19-year old Nicholas Webster of Jefferson, Texas, and 19-year old Princeston Washington of Linden, Texas.
Webster was transported to hospital and remains in a critical condition and Washington was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Based on evidence and witness information obtained in the investigation, New Boston Police obtained an arrest for Malaki on July 7, 2024 who was seen fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
After an intensive manhunt Malaki was located in Clarksville, Texas on July 11, 2024.
New Boston Police, with the assistance of the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department, Bowie County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshall’s Task Force, Homeland Security Investigators, NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force, and the Red River County Sheriff’s Department, took Malaki into custody without incident and transport to the Red River County Jail.
