A 33-year old woman was arrested on a warrant for three counts of Abandon or Endanger a Child after a Paris Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Monday for an obscured license plate.
Around 9:29 p.m., Deanna Damita Bernard was stopped in the 700 block of East Booth Street and taken into custody on the warrant.
In September 2022, Child Protective Services became involved when Bernard had given birth and the newborn was experiencing signs of withdrawal, breathing at a fast pace and on a ventilator.
Police said the newborn was tested and results came back positive for amphetamines and cocaine.
Bernard also tested positive for amphetamines and cocaine and admitted to snorting cocaine, smoking meth and eating edibles a month prior.
A two-year old and a three-year old were also considered endangered and removed from the home.
