William F. Zachry, 91 of Paris, Tx., passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at his residence, with his wife Carolyn by his side. He and his wife moved to Paris 9 years ago because his brother, Jimi Hendrix, lived in Paris and owned Radio Station KPLT.
He was born on March 25, 1933 in Coal Hill, AR, a son of James B. and Sadie Jane Srygley Zachry. He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School in Ft. Smith Arkansas. He received a bachelor of science in Criminal Justice from Troy State University, and an associate degree in Applied Science from George Wallace Community College. William attended the Institute of Applied Science for crime detection. He was trained in finger printing, police photography, and criminal and civil investigations. He also attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia trained in the study of criminal investigations.
He proudly served and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after 20 years as a Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for the Police Department in Selma, where he worked the first 8 years undercover and Benton, Alabama as Chief of Police. William also worked for American Stores in Dallas, TX as district Human Resources Director. He retired in 1995.
