Velma Jewel Allen 77, of Paris, died at 10:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 3, 2019, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Garretts Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Velma was born April 16, 1941 in Celina, Tennessee to William Alvis and Ima Corene Swanson Neely. She married Charles Lee Allen on June 18, 1954 in Vernon, Texas. He died April 7, 1984. She was a homemaker for her husband and ten children and was a member of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her ten children, Debbie Moree and husband, David, Donna Gilbert, Charlene Green, Nelda Gilbert and husband, Robert, Timothy “Bo” Allen and wife, Marie, Sammy Allen, Lena Perry and husband, Billy, Lisa Waggoner and husband, Benny, Stanley Allen, and Brenda Allen; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three siblings, Travis Neely, Myrtle Williams, and Daisy Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Derek Dewayne Allen; and a son-in-law, Jack Gilbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Johnny Ray Gilbert, Waylon Gilbert, Charlie Gilbert, Harold Lee Gilbert, Kenny Gilbert, Cody Hicks, Cody Perry, Joshua Allen, and Bradley Waggoner.
