Around 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, multiple law enforcement agencies in Lamar County respond to a home invasion in the 2100 block of Clarksville St.

A male suspect, identified at 53-year old Daniel M. Roberts, broke into a 78-year old woman’s home and attacked her.

“Officers arrived to find an elderly female who had been beaten and stabbed along with the suspect at the residence,” said Chief of Police Bob Hundley.

Police say the woman was able to fend off her attacker and call 9-1-1.

“The victim does have significant injuries; stab wounds, broken leg and skull fracture, and has been admitted to a local hospital,” said Hundley.

Roberts was arrested after jumping from a window at the residence and chased down.

Police say he was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released to arresting officers.

Due to investigation needs and further medical testing, there is no mug shot available at this point in the investigation.

“Felony charges will include burglary for the time being and other charges will be filed as the investigation continues.”

He is currently being held in the city jail.

Paris Police was assisted on scene by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Paris EMS, and Paris Fire Department
