UPDATE: Officers with the Paris Police Department continue the investigation of the crash this morning in the 4000 block of N. Main.
The deceased in the crash has been identified as Travis Upton, 26 of the Sumner area.
“Mr. Upton was a passenger in a 2017 Chevrolet pickup being driven by a Chance Woodard, 31 of Lamar County,” said Chief of Police Bob Hundley.
“A truck tractor semi-trailer driven by a Petru Bobiciov of Ontario Canada was in the north bound outside lane of US 271, either stopped or backing when the pickup came into contact with the left side rear of the semi-trailer.”
Mr. Woodard was flown to a Dallas area hospital from PRMC.
Mr. Bobiciov was not injured.
UPDATE: Officials confirm one fatality in a major accident on 271 N. An 18-wheeler and white 4-door Chevy pickup were involved in the wreck.
DPS, Lamar County Sheriff deputies, and Paris PD are still on the scene. Traffic is moving slowly.
