Two Paris High School athletes, who attended NFL legend Michael Vicks football camp on Friday, were chosen as “Camper of the Day” by the four-time NFL Pro-Bowl quarterback.
Jeremiah Smith and Marcave’us Washington, both 2023/2024 juniors, were excited to have their talent recognized out of the roughly 250 kids at the event.
“Being chosen for something of this stature was a great feeling,” said Smith, who plays O Line and D Line. “I am grateful to have been chosen as a recipient of the V7 scholarship from the Michael Vick Football Camp. Now that my potential has been recognized, I can only hope for more opportunities.”
Washington, who plays Slot Receiver, said, “Firstly, I would like to thank Michael Vick for giving up his time to help us to become better players. I am honored to win the V7 scholarship award and appreciate the coaches and Michael Vick’s recognition of the hard work I tried to display during the camp.”
Vick told the media that after doing camps in Texas during 2017 and 2018, he knew the turnouts.
“I know the kids that come through our camps and went on to do great things. Now, there’s another generation that want to understand it, that wants to learn it, want to take that next step. I’m just excited to be able to pour into them and every time I’ve had a camp in Texas, it’s always been successful.”
Vick said he plans to have two more camps in Texas this summer.
