Two Fannin County men have been arrested in connection with several auto thefts in Lamar and Fannin counties, according to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Cass said in recent weeks there have been several auto thefts in the northwest part of Lamar County and the northeastern part of Fannin County.

“During this time, Lamar County Sheriff Detectives and Northeast Texas Auto Theft Detectives have developed several investigative leads that have resulted in the recovery of the stolen vehicles and the identification of two suspects,” said Cass.

Due to this investigation, felony arrest warrants were issued for 19-year-old James Reed Hufford and 26-year-old Joshua Roy Dean Price, both of Fannin County.

“The warrants were served on Hufford and Price while both were incarcerated in the Fannin County jail on unrelated charges,” added Cass.

Both Hufford and Price remain in the Fannin County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

“Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to make sure their vehicles and residences are secured at all times, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings and please report any suspicious vehicles or persons to your local law enforcement agency.”
