Did you know lemonade stands are currently illegal in Texas? It doesn’t matter how cute the kids are or if they are raising money for a good cause, lemonade stands are illegal because homemade drinks are banned due to health concerns.
However, Texas Lawmakers are working to change that.
The Texas House passed HB 234 on Wednesday to legalize lemonade stands selling nonalcoholic beverages operated by minors on private property or public parks.
Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott made his support of the bill known on Tuesday, tweeting that “it’s a shame that a law for this is even needed.”
The bill still needs to move through the Senate before heading to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk.
