A man suffered multiple gunshot wounds Saturday morning shortly after an altercation that began inside a Mount Pleasant Whataburger. An 18-year-old was later charged with murder and booked into the Titus County Jail.
At about 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 25, Mount Pleasant Police Department was dispatched to the Whataburger at 2321 S. Jefferson Ave. in regard to someone being shot.
Once on scene, officers found 30-year-old Damien Oneal Jackson, of Mount Pleasant, in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was treated and transported to Titus Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
“Officers discovered that multiple parties were involved in an altercation inside the restaurant, and they were told to leave. As they exited the business the victim was shot by the suspect. The MPPD identified multiple witnesses who were questioned regarding the incident.”
At about 9:20 a.m. on Feb. 25, 18-year-old Kentravion Jajuan Evans was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Titus County Jail.
Officers said there are no other suspects at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
