Soon, stop signs will replace traffic signals in and around the Paris Downtown Area as officials begin a 90-day safety study starting Dec. 6.
The city of Paris in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation and Lamar County Chamber of Commerce will start the safety study on Dec. 6 and run until March 6, 2022.
Paris City Council, in 2018, adopted a downtown plan which recommended the return of a one-way pair system to two-way traffic leading to and from Paris’ downtown square.
“The 90-day study will assist both the City and TXDOT to assess the ability to replace traffic signals with stop signs,” said city officials. “Following the 90-day study, a report will be presented to the City’s Traffic Commission and City Council for a determination on how to best proceed with the complete two-way system implementation project.”
For more information and to complete a survey on the project, visit the city’s or chamber’s websites.
