The Slade Baker Memorial Crawfish Cook-Off, a two-day event in downtown Paris featuring live music, cold drinks, and all-you-can-eat crawfish, will be held this weekend, May 1 & 2.
Slade Baker, former Paris Firefighter, was killed in an automobile accident in 2019. His legacy of laughter, loyalty and heart lives on through the Slade Baker Memorial Fund.
Teams will compere in the Crawfish Courtyard where attendees can dive in head-first top be the judge and the jury in the People’s Choice vote.
The weekend kicks-off on may with fajitas, drinks, and music at 6 p.m. at South Main Iron, 255 1st Street SW in downtown Paris.
The main event, May 2, starts with appetizers at 10 a.m. followed by crawfish at 11 a.m., a crawfish eating contest at 1 p.m., live auction at 3 p.m. and award ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
The Stoney Musgrove Band will take the stage at 11 a.m. and Common Ground will follow at 1:15 p.m.

Since 2022, $85,205 has been raised for the Slade Baker Memorial Fund, which awards a $2,500 scholarship each year to a Lamar County resident who is planning to further their education in the fire service. For more information, click here
