The Slade Baker Memorial Crawfish Cook-Off and Cornhole Tournament is set to heat up Downtown Paris, come May 7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at South Main Iron, 255 S.W. 1st St. in memory of Paris Firefighter Slade Baker.
Baker was described as a people person whose greatest priorities in life were family, fun and fitness. Fellow Paris Fire Department firefighters have said Baker was the life of any group, someone “you could call and he’d be there at the drop of a hat.”
The Cornhole Tournament is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 40 teams battling it out for the $1,000 grand prize.
The Crawfish Courtyard will open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Come hungry. Teams will be firing it up and slinging mudbugs all day – while supplies last!”
Prices for the Slade Baker Memorial Crawfish Cook-Off and Cornhole Tournament are:
- $17.40 for Crawfish Courtyard tickets – which gives access to the Crawfish Courtyard, “where you’ll get the opportunity to eat your heart out,” and try crawfish and all the fix’ns from each and every team.
- $110.39 for a two-person team to compete in the Cornhole Tournament *non-refundable
- $143.21 tickets go toward Cornhole Tournament and 2-person tickets for the Crawfish Courtyard.
The Trophy Sponsor is Load Trail.
Alongside the cornhole tournament and crawfish courtyard, the Slade Baker Memorial Crawfish Cook-Off will also feature live music:
- 10:15 a.m. – Dustin Perkins Band
- 12 p.m. – Wes Jeans
- 1:45 p.m. – Hayden McBride
- For those who wish to get an early start, South Main Iron will have a pre-party fired up from 6-8 p.m. on May 6.
Money raised from the crawfish cook-off and corn hole tournament will go toward the Slade Baker Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to any Lamar County resident who plans to further their education in the fire service.
