In a continuing effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, two families from Lamar County, the Hallfords and the Faulkners, are hosting a Lemonade and Lunch stand on Saturday, June 2 from 10:30 am to 3 pm at Tractor Supply Co. in Paris, TX during Lemonade Days.

“We were in Dallas for treatment and I saw Sierra’s grandmother in the waiting room,” said Madilyn’s mom Taryn Hallford.

“We visited for about an hour and prayed together and it turns out that was Sierra’s day of diagnosis. We were just in the right place at the right time.”

Although Madilyn, 3, and Sierra, 4, live 10 miles away from each other, they did not meet until they were diagnosed in 2016 and treated at Children’s Hospital Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Dallas.

Recently, Sierra celebrated one-year cancer free and Madilyn is currently in remission and still fighting cancer.

“It was a two to three and a half year treatment plan but her end of treatment date is October 2018,” said Taryn.

Now with the help of their families, Sierra and Madi are choosing to make lemonade out of lemons.

“They know they’re helping others that are fighting battles they have fought,” said Taryn.

Locals can stop by the lemonade stand anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and get some lemonade and lunch. There will also be items raffled off during the day.

“Chisum Realty and Auction has donated a cooler and Paris Baby and LuLu and Red have both donated shirts and bows for the girls to wear. Tara Swain Photography has also helped us with videos and photos and we’re very grateful to all those who have helped us.”

The Second Annual Lemonade and Lunch stand will honor childhood cancer heroes Madilyn Hallford and Sierra Faulkner and benefit childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).
