Sherry Kay McCool, 57 of Arthur City, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

A memorial service has been set for Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Gospel Lighthouse in Powderly with Rev. Chris Kelley officiating. No family night has been scheduled.

Sherry was born on September 18, 1961 in Lamar County to Tony and Lois Gates. She married Allen McCool on March 1, 1985. She loved God, her family, quilting and fishing. She was a member of The Gospel Lighthouse Church.

A lady of great strength, through it all she held on to faith in her mighty God. Her last days were filled with the Peace of God and everyone that entered the doors felt it. Family and friends snuggled up with her as her grandbabies played on the bed. Quilting was carried out by her bedside as she fished in her dreams. Those that loved her told many stories of how she made a difference in their life. She was a mom to all of them. Sherry made an impact on so many lives. She was loved by all who ever knew her and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my love.

She is survived by her husband, Allen McCool; children, Matt McCool and wife Amber, Shell Sikes and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Brittany Calhoun and husband Devin, Kameron Avery, Micah Avery, Blaze Sikes, Phillip Sikes, Mallory Sikes, Hailey Sikes, Malachi McCool, Clay Carr, Nate McCool; great-grandchildren, Hailynn Calhoun, Zaden Calhoun, Vandon Calhoun; mother, Lois Ingram and husband Wayne; brothers, Kevin Gates, Bill Gates, Kenneth Jones, Bryan Jones and Terry Gates; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tony Gates; nephews, Paul Adam Gates and Carson Jones.

Special thank you to Cypress Basin Hospice for their care, concern and compassion.
