Robbie Blanche Haynes Parson, 97, of the West Post Oak Community, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at her home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled memorial services for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1st at the Belk United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating.
Robbie was born in Razor, Texas to Alexander Kincaid Haynes & Vera Victoria Campbell Haynes, on June 27, 1926. She was the youngest of five children. Sisters, Wilma Haynes Hunter and Maureen Haynes Powell and brother, Lota Haynes and half-brother, Byron Haynes. In high school she worked at The Paris News as a typist for Pat Mayse and A. W. Neville. She graduated from Paris High School in 1944. In 1936, she met the person who would be the love of her life when she was just 10 years old. Robbie married Weldon Wayne Parson on Jan. 23, 1945, when Wayne was home on leave from serving in WW II. They were married for 75 years. Wayne passed away Oct. 22, 2020. For the first 13 years of marriage they lived in Ragtown, Texas and West Post Oak, Texas where they joined in the family occupation of farming and ranching. Their first daughter, Leann, was born in 1953. In 1957, she gave birth to their only son, Gary. In 1958, Wayne decided to pursue his lifelong wish for a career as a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper, and the family moved to Denton, Texas. Wayne was transferred to LaMarque, Texas in 1961, and then to Littlefield, Texas in 1963. Robbie began working at the county newspaper, Lamb County Leader News as a clerk/typist. Later she took a job at Ware’s Department Store which fed her love of fashion and sewing. She made many outfits that were used on display in the store to help sell the fabrics. Robbie loved keeping the kids dressed nicely, and she was known for her accessories, shoes, and handbags. In 1967, she gave birth to her daughter, Dayna Kay. In 1974, the family was transferred back to Paris, Texas. Robbie worked at Beall’s for 10 years and retired in 1984. She and Wayne enjoyed their retirement years raising cattle on their ranch in West Post Oak. She was the pianist at Belk United Methodist Church for many years, even after losing an eye in 2021 – she continued to play piano from memory. She took up oil painting in her later years and often shared her works with family and friends. Robbie was famously known for her baking abilities. She made cakes and pies from scratch and was best known for her coconut cream and chocolate cream pies. These were often requested by family and friends for gatherings and holiday meals. Survivors include her daughter, Leann Anderson & husband Craig and their four children, Phillip (Ashley), Timothy, Kimberly, and Ethan (Danna) along with eight great grandchildren. Son Gary and his partner, Dale Horne. Daughter Dayna Bost & husband Robert along with a plethora of extended family and friends.
