Rita Gale Daugherty, 79, of Blossom, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at her home.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Rita, the daughter of Joseph Edward Bray & Francis Jones Bray, was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Dallas, TX.
She attended W. W. Samuel High School and worked in her parent’s meat market & grocery store on Gaston Avenue for a number of years. In 1970, she moved to Lamar County and began working at First National Bank. Following that she worked at Paris Bank of Texas, Paul Wells CPA, and Cunningham Steel where she retired in 2017.
Rita was a member of First Baptist Church Blossom.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Edward Bray, her mother & step-father, Francis and Bill Raines, her husband, George Vernon Lynch, and her husband, Roger Earl Daugherty, Sr. whom she married on June 10, 1974. They were married 43 years before Roger’s death on Jan. 23, 2018.
Survivors include three children, Roger E. Daugherty, Jr. (Jennifer), Steve Lynch (Terry), and Traci Ann McKnight (Brad), 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Jimmie Zinn along with a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Jesse Lynch, Jeremy Lynch, Alex Salinas, Jake Daugherty, J. D. House, and Robert Crouch.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to On Call Hospice, Kathy Harmon, Tamika Booker, Linda Hicks, and Sally Parker for the care given their loved one.
