Rev. Thomas Wayne Lane, 80, of Sumner, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 19, 2023, at home. The family has scheduled a celebration of life for 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, at the Direct Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Cannon, Rev. Tim Reger, and Rev. Justin Wideman officiating. There will be no graveside service as Interment will be made at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. Thomas, the eldest son of William E Lane and Minnie Lea Lane, was born Oct 5, 1942, in Dallas, TX. On Nov. 27, 1964, he married Kathleen Annette (Burgoon) Lane, building 58 years of family and memories. Kathy preceded him in death only 3 months ago. Tom and Kathy had a very active and loving relationship with their 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He and Kathy spent more than 50 years in active church ministry, most recently serving First Baptist Church of Paris. In his ministry role, Tom worked to organize and lead Sunday School, create newsletters, work with various committees, and support his pastors. He loved the Lord and committed his life to doing His will. He prayed with a passion that spoke to his close relationship with the One to whom he prayed. He provided support, encouragement, and wisdom to his family as he loved them all well.
Survivors include his son, Michael David Lane & wife Kara, a daughter, Becky Robinson & husband David R., grandchildren, Logan Lane & wife Kayla, Tanner Lane & wife Molly, Kalli Wideman & husband Connor, Abby Robinson, Russell Robinson & wife Dakota, and Jonathan Robinson, great grandchildren, Gunner Fulton Lane, Logan Jay (L.J.) Lane, Quintin Wade Lane, Mary Margaret (Maggie) Lane, Laura Kate Lane, Weston Lowell Wideman, Emma Blake Wideman, Davy Renee Wideman, Adaline Grace Robinson, Jackson Wilder Robinson, and Eleanor Rose Robinson along with a host of friends.
