Darlene Justiss, 84, of Howland, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11th at the Pavilion of McDonald Cemetery with Dr. Tim Parker officiating.
Darlene, the daughter of Connie and Naomi Eakes, was born May 21, 1940, in California.
She graduated from West Lamar High School. Darlene worked side by side with her husband, Buba, on their farm and ranch in the Howland Community. She was very much a steward of the land as was her husband. Darlene had a kindness in her heart for animals and showed compassion and love to many animals over the years. On weekends Darlene would visit neighbors and the homebound to check on their needs. She was a faithful member of the Howland Baptist Church for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, William Richard “Buba” Justiss who passed away on Dec. 20, 2021, following 62 years of marriage, a grandson, Mason Garret Justiss, a brother, Bobby Eakes and wife Lily, and a sister, Connie Lea Jones and husband Mike.
Survivors include one daughter, Anita Justiss, two sons, William R. Justiss III, and Joseph Justiss, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a grand daughter-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Jacob Villarreal, Harvey McCoin, Lee Rast, Karl King, Kaleb Justiss, and Charlie Jones. Larry Bramlett will serve as an honorary bearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Howland Baptist Church.
